Maria Krambia Kapardis
Dr. Maria Krambia-Kapardis (PhD., M.Bus, B.Ec., FCA, ACFE) is currently a Professor of Accounting with a specialization in Forensic Accounting at the Cyprus University of Technology. Maria is the founder and first Chair of Transparency International-Cyprus (2010-2017) and the founder and first president of the Economic Crime and Forensic Accounting Committee of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (2010-2014). She has been a visiting scholar at Victoria University (Melbourne, Australia), Cambridge University (UK) and Girona University (Spain). Her research interests are corruption and anti-corruption;ethical behaviour;fraud detection, investigation and prevention;ethical leadership and modern slavery. She has published extensively internationally including books such as (a) Financial Compliance: Issues, Concerns, and Future Directions, (b) Corporate Fraud and Corruption: A Holistic Approach to Preventing Financial Crises (c) Palgrave Handbook on Modern Slavery and is now co-editing (d) Routledge Handbook on Gender and Corruption. She is a Fellow member of Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand and a Certified Fraud Examiner. Maria served as the country expert on corruption for the European Commission for a number of years and she has been awarded a number of prizes for her publications by Emerald Literati Network. The ACFE (USA) in 2019 awarded her the global Achievement in Outreach/Community Service Award for being an active contributor to her community and being committed to helping improve the quality of life where she lives and works. In December 2019 she was awarded the ACE Anti-Corruption Excellence Award in the academic research and education category.
