Mr. George L. Savvides was born in 1959. He resided in Famagusta until the Turkish invasion in 1974. He has been living in Limassol since.

He excelled at the Lanition secondary school of Limassol. Having completed his military service, he studied Law at Exeter University in the United Kingdom where he received the title of Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. Hons.). He then continued his studies in London and became a Barrister as a Member of The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple.

He actively practiced law for 35 years as the founder and managing partner of a law firm with offices in Limassol and Nicosia and is a member of the Famagusta Bar Association and the Cyprus Bar Association. He is also a member of the International Bar Association (IBA) and has served as Chairman and Vice-Chairman of various subcommittees of this international body.

He served as a Minister of Justice and Public Order of the Republic of Cyprus from May 31, 2019 until June 29, 2020, date when he was appointed Attorney General by the President of the Republic, Mr. Nicos Anastasiades.

Mr. Savvides was a medallist of Pan-Hellenic athletic games and also a holder of a Cyprus record as a high jump athlete whilst a member of Gymnastic Club Evagoras of Famagusta. He later served as the Secretary of the Club. He has been a member of National Cyprus athletics team for a number of years.

He is married and a father of three children.
