Daniel Spichtinger

Daniel Spichtinger (DS) has been working on EU funded research projects since 2004. He has been involved “hands on” in proposal writing as well as dissemination of research results for several research consortia, including a network of excellence on food safety with 32 partners around the globe. From January 2012 to January 2018 Daniel Spichtinger was employed by the European Commission as a project and senior policy officer for open access to scientific peer-reviewed publications and research data. As of September 2018 he has been working in Vienna, Austria as an independent expert for EU research projects & policy and as a specialist for issues related to open science. Most recently he has been an evaluator in the first round of Horizon Europe project evaluations. He is also employed part time at the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft (LBG) where he advises the LBG on third party funding. He has a degree in English, media studies and history from the University of Vienna (2001) as well as a MA in Contemporary European Politics (2002) from the University of Bath
