Klára Řehounková is Assistant Professor of Botany at the Faculty of Science of the University of South Bohemia in the Czech Republic. Her research focuses on the restoration of various human-made habitats, especially areas disturbed by mining and quarrying. She advocates a near-nature restoration approach.
She advises on ecological restoration to public and private agencies, companies and NGOs;most recently she has been working on improving restoration practices in European mines and quarries. She teaches courses in restoration ecology, urban ecology and ecology.
In addition, she serves as a board member of the European Chapter of the Society for Restoration Ecology.
